Delaware Honors Purple Heart National Commander Pat Little
The Department of Delaware Military Order of the Purple Heart hosted a dinner to honor National MOPH Commander Pat Little, a member of Delaware Chapter 9377. Delaware Secretary of State Jeffery Bullock represented Delaware Gov. Jack Markell at the dinner, and his remarks lauded Little for his achievements and the national recognition he brings to Delaware.
Paul Lardizzone, chairman of the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, presented Little with a proclamation from Markell.
Little served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, with a tour of duty with the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star with Valor and Army Commendation with Valor for Heroism in ground combat, and a Bronze Star for meritorious service.
Little has more than 22 years of business development, sales, marketing, and major account management with the DuPont Company, spending the last 10 years starting up new businesses. Two of the most notable new businesses for DuPont were a joint venture with N.V. Phillip’s Gloeilampenfabrieken, which manufactured the first CD-ROMs in the U.S. and developing new markets for thin film polyester as a substrate for dye sublimation film.
Becky Pulley, the founder of the Delaware Military Order of the Purple Heart, was also present at the dinner and recognized for her contributions to MOPH. Pulley is a combat-wounded Desert Storm veteran.
Several national and regional MOPH officers also attended the dinner, including Carol Jones, Ladies Auxiliary MOPH Region 1 president and a member of Delaware LAMOPH Unit 1787.
MOPH is unique among veteran service organizations in that all its members were wounded in combat. For this sacrifice, they were awarded the Purple Heart Medal. With grants from the MOPH Service Foundation, the MOPH and its Ladies Auxiliary promote patriotism, fraternalism, and the preservation of America’s military history.
Most importantly, they provide comfort and assistance to all veterans and their families, especially those requiring claims assistance with the VA, those who are homeless, and those who require employment assistance. MOPH volunteers provide assistance to veterans at VA hospitals and clinics and state veterans homes.
