N.C. Division of Veterans Affairs to Host 9/11 Remembrance
RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) – The director of the state’s veterans affairs agency will make remarks on Thursday in remembrance of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.
Division Of Veterans Affairs Director Ilaria Pantano will also introduce House Speaker Pro Tem Paul Stam of Wake County, who will also speak at the Thursday event to honor Americans who died 13 years ago this week.
The event will be held at 8:15 a.m. at the 9/11 Service Memorial on the corner of Saunders St. and N. Salem St. in the Wake County town of Apex.
Pantano and Stam are both former Marines.
According to the Department of Administration, Stam will speak to “the events of 9/11 and the courage of past, present and future generations of Americans.”
The event will include a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. for American Airlines Flight 11, and at 9:03 a.m. for United Airlines Flight 175, the times the planes struck the World Trade Center towers in New York City.
A wreath laying will close the event.
This event is free and open to the public.
