Korean War Vet Gets Military Funeral After 62 Years

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)

A Korean War veteran will finally be laid to rest. The remains of Marion E. Hooton arrived at Huntsville Airport Thursday afternoon.

Three of his family members, a military Honor Guard, and Laughlin Funeral Home staff helped escort Hooton’s remains from the airport to the funeral home.

Hooton was onboard a military plane traveling from McChord Air Force Base in Washington to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska when it crashed in 1952.

It had 11 crew members and 41 passengers were on board of the aircraft.

17 soldiers have been identified.

“It’s very nice to have all of the fan fare and know that he’s getting the military respect that he deserves.” said Hooton’s niece

Hooton will be buried with full military honors
