Authorities Eye Man Accused of Posing as Army Vet
Police say they are investigating whether a man accused of falsely posing as a U.S. Army ranger while shopping at a suburban Philadelphia mall broke the law.
Middletown Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said Tuesday that the man didn’t ask for a military discount at a shoe store he was exiting when a decorated Army veteran questioned him and captured it on video.
The Bucks County Courier Times also reports that U.S. Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick has asked the U.S. attorney’s office to investigate.
The video created by Ryan Berk, who served in Afghanistan and received a Purple Heart, had received 2 million views on YouTube by Tuesday evening.
Retired Col. Richard Nurnberg of the National Infantry Association says it’s impossible the man won the three Combat Infantrymen Badges he was wearing.
