Home Given to Injured Army Vet for 3rd Time

For the third time in 2014, U.S. Bank, in partnership with Freedom Alliance and Five Brothers, are set to donate a home to an injured U.S. Army veteran.

Wednesday, Nov. 19, Sgt. Patrick McPherson and his family will be welcomed to their new, mortgage-free home at 5171 Fossil Butte Drive in Colorado Springs.

McPherson was born and raised in California and currently lives in Pagosa Springs. He joined the Army Reserves in 2001 at age 24. McPhersons three deployments and combat-related injuries in the war left him a permanently disabled veteran. While stationed in Iraq, he had the difficult and dangerous assignment of transporting supply convoys from Kuwait to Baghdad, traveling with at least 150 convoys during his deployment.

McPherson was medically retired in August 2012. The severity of his injuries makes it difficult for him to participate in activities he once enjoyed. McPherson and his wife, along with their two children, look forward to living in Colorado Springs.

We are really excited about this next stage in our lives, said McPherson. The transition will allow my family to take advantage of the strong, military roots already planted in the Colorado Springs community, along with great educational opportunities for our children.

The donation derived from a partnership between U.S. Bank, Freedom Alliance and Five Brothers, a real estate management company that helped renovate the home. At 10 a.m. Wednesday, several U.S. Bank officials as well as representatives from Freedom Alliance and Five Brothers will be present to

welcome McPherson and his family to their new home, including:

Tom Naughton, regional president for U.S. Bank in Southern Colorado;

Erick Kidd, metropolitan region manager and veteran, U.S. Bank;

Thomas Kilgannon, president of Freedom Alliance; and

Joe Badalamenti, chief executive officer of Five Brothers.

U.S. Bank is honored to partner with Freedom Alliance to present this home to Sgt. McPherson and his family, said Naughton. It will be a wonderful Thanksgiving for the McPherson family. U.S. Bank is a strong supporter of the U.S. military and its veterans.

U.S. Bank hired more than 1,100 veterans between 2012 and 2013. The bank also received the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award in 2013 for its exceptional support of guard and reserve employees, including generous paid time-off policies for veterans and military family members.

McPhersons home was donated through a partnership with Freedom Alliance and its Heroes to Homeowners program. We are honored to support and care for our nations returning veterans and their families through our national program. The home donations allow us to assist in healing by strengthening our veterans, including Sgt. McPherson, as they transition into their new civilian lives, said Kilgannon.
