Little Rock Shelter Gets $183K Grant From VA

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – A shelter that serves homeless veterans in Little Rock has received a $183,750 grant from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The grant was announced Thursday by U.S. Sens. Mark Pryor and John Boozman and U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin. The grant comes from a VA program that helps fund organizations that provide housing and other services to homeless veterans who have special needs, including those who are mentally ill or elderly.

St. Francis House was first granted a contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in 1988 to house homeless veterans. The shelter provides counseling, transitional housing, meals, laundry, employment services and activities.
