Every year, VA disability compensation payment rates are adjusted based on cost-of-living adjustments, or COLA, set by the Social Security Administration. In 2026, this adjustment will result in a 2.8% increase for veterans.
This adjustment will become effective December 1, 2025 and veterans will see the increase in monthly payments in January 2026, which can make a meaningful difference for those receiving compensable VA disability benefits.
In other words, veterans with a 10% rating received a monthly payment of $175.51 in 2025, which will increase to $180.42 in 2026. As another example, veterans with a 100% rating, a spouse, 1 child, and 2 dependent parents, received $4,544.23 in 2025, which will increase to $4671.47 in 2026. Once the new rates are effective, the VA will post the rates on their website here: Current Veterans Disability Compensation Rates | Veterans Affairs. These new rates will be effective until November 30, 2026.
