Bonham Hosts Veterans’ Affairs Mental Health Summit

BONHAM, Texas –Veterans health and welfare was the focus Wednesday of the the annual mental health summit in Bonham, hosted by the VA North Texas Health Center.

Organizers talked about military culture, traditions and the hardships veterans face when they transition to civilian life.

Jerry Wrenn, a Vietnam veteran and peer counselor, says networking with other organizations that help veterans is beneficial to the entire community. “The networking because all of a sudden I know who to talk to at the college when some body’s having trouble at school,” Wrenn said. “And if they’ve got somebody who needs a little one on one or some peer support they can call me.”
