Functional Fashion: Prosthetics for Female Veterans

Tailored prosthetics for female vetsRethinking prosthetics for female veterans. Its the mission of Andrea Ippolito, Dara Dotz, and Heather Irvine. The group created The Girls Lounge in the hopes that by teaming up they will bring more attention to prosthetic care for female veterans who have suffered traumatic amputations.

Do not let a denial of your benefits stop you from getting what is rightfully yours. If you are struggling with an injury or illness from your military service, Vets National Advocates can help. Our team of trained advocates can give you the guidance that you need to deal with the VA appeals process.

While there are many prosthetic designs out there, women who have lost one or more limbs may not receive support and care tailored to their needs. The group is focusing on 3D cosmetic designs and realistic restorations that build confidence. This includes prosthetics for petite frames, makeup application, and prosthetics made especially for pregnancy.

In some cases, patients want a realistic, silicone restoration that allows for a high heel. Others, may opt for a cool robotic-looking prosthetics. It all comes down to reflecting individual personalities.

The group plans to show off what they have been working on during the VA Innovation Creation Series set for July 28 and 29 at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, VA.

Vets National Advocates can help.

If you have been injured and you are struggling to get the benefits that you require from the government, our experienced advocates can help appeal a denied claim.

In many cases, applications for benefits are denied and veterans simply do not know where to turn next. In addition, the application process is notoriously exhausting and complex. It requires many steps such as filling out multi-part forms, meeting filing deadlines, and attending hearings before VA officials.
