McLean, Virginia December 3, 2014
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded a prime contract to MorganFranklin Consulting to provide Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular No. A-123 and remediation support services to its Internal Controls Service (ICS) division. MorganFranklin, a D.C.-based execution-focused business consulting firm and professional advisor, was selected as a prime contract awardee along with two other firms to compete for task orders over a five-year period of performance at a maximum value of $42,228,304.
“MorganFranklin is honored to be selected to deliver OMB A-123 and remediation support services to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs,” said Bill Hughes, Managing Director and leader of the Public Sector Market at MorganFranklin Consulting. “We have a strong history with the VA, and we look forward to continuing to support its mission to not only serve our country’s service members and veterans, but also their families and survivors. This contract presents a vast opportunity for MorganFranklin to support the VA over the next five years by documenting processes and key internal controls, identifying improvements, and implementing effective internal controls remediation activities to prevent and detect any weaknesses that could affect the agency’s mission.”
The ICS, within the VA Office of Business Oversight (OBO), is responsible for planning and conducting department-wide reviews of internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR) in accordance with OMB Circular A-123, Appendix A, Management’s Responsibility for Internal Control. Under the direction of the Senior Assessment Team (SAT), ICS is tasked with assessing the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
