YREKA A Veterans outreach program is now being offered in Siskiyou County, in coordination with the Siskiyou County Veterans Service Office, Siskiyou County Behavioral Health Alcohol and Drug Department, and Grants Pass Veterans Center.

The program offers services, including: confidential services, individual and group sessions, private evaluations, access to veteran services, referral to other professionals, county veterans ID card through the Veterans Service Office, veterans networking and fellowship.

The program came about after months of conversation about the need for veteran interaction with other veterans, to establish a sense of trust and assistance, said program coordinator Jeffrey McFall.

McFall said veterans represent a huge demographic in Siskiyou County, although many do not know they have entitlements through the Veterans Administration based solely on their service.

We feel it is important to provide a safe place where they can come talk with someone about their needs, whether they are medical, mental health, substance abuse issues, or if they need to determine what their entitlements are, said McFall.

This will expose veterans to services and networks they may not have previously been aware of, said McFall. For those who may be homeless, it could even get them off the street and the care they need.

For more information, contact McFall at (530) 841-4834.
