VA’s Mobile Vet Center Makes First Stop at PRCC’s Forrest County Center
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) – The Dept. of Veterans Affairs and Pearl River Community College have teamed up to help combat veterans and their families re-adjust to civilian life.
Thursday, PRCC hosted the VA’s mobile vet center at its Forrest County campus.
A VA representative was available to offer free readjustment counseling services for active-duty service members who served in a combat or war zone. The services were available for combat veterans of any war or their family members.
It’s the first time for the mobile center to make a stop at PRCC’s Hattiesburg campus. This same center was in Columbia Wednesday and in Prentiss on Tuesday.
“There’s an influx of veterans who are coming back from serving abroad who are not necessarily aware of the services that are available and getting the information out makes all the difference in the world,” said Thomas Tucker, readjustment counseling technician for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.
The VA has about 70 of the mobile centers across the country.
