Veterans Voice Concerns Over Health Care Needs
Veterans living in the St. George area were invited to a town hall meeting Wednesday night to express concerns they have and to hear from medical personnel from the St. George Veterans Outpatient Clinic and Vet Center.
Dozens of veterans came to the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins.
Among the concerns expressed was the patient load the clinic has compared to the veterans needs.
While veterans can choose to travel to Salt Lake City to the VA Hospital for medical care, many would prefer to stay closer to home.
Other issues included medications being prescribed, or lack thereof. Staff from the clinic and a liaison from the VA in Salt Lake City did their best to present their reasoning as to why veterans sometimes didnt get the results they were looking for.
But to veterans struggling with PTSD and serious medical conditions, the answers were considered smoke and mirrors.
